This cake was a great one to do – I wanted to do something really different.  It was for my aunt’s birthday, and she has just bought a new apartment but hasn’t moved in yet.  This is supposed to be her, relaxing in a big leather armchair with a cup of tea after she moves in.  The armchair is the cake, in case you’re wondering – quite challenging to figure out at first, but I think it turned out well.  Everything else is sugarpaste, coloured and shaped to look like a rug, suitcases, cup and throw.  She loved the cake so much that she refused to cut it!  Which was a pity, since it would have tasted good too, I hope…!

The cake is a 6″ chocolate sponge, filled with orange buttercream, covered with chocolate ganache and sugarpaste.
