My friend Lorraine asked me to make a birthday cake for her little girl, Emma-Kate.  It was her first birthday, and Lorraine asked for a pink and white very girly cake.

I thought a little pair of pink Mary Jane shoes would be adorable on top of the cake.  I bought the template for these shoes from Jo Ranson in the UK - she is raising money for Great Ormond Street Childrens Hospital http://the-icing-on-the-cake.blogspot.com/2010/08/mary-jane-template-mary-jane-template-2.html  They are beautiful little shoes, and in aid of a very good cause too!

The cake itself was a 9-inch chocolate biscuit cake, covered in soft pink sugarpaste and decorated with hand crafted Mary Jane shoes and tiny little white and pink flowers.  This cake would also be ideal for Christenings or Baby Showers.
