One of my lovely repeat customers, Lisanne, ordered this cake for her friend Gary’s 30th birthday.  Gary is a builder, so we came up with the idea of draping a toolbelt over the top of the cake.  I handmade the spanner, hammer, screwdriver and pliers from modelling paste, and made the toolbelt from sugarpaste.  And yes, I did spend a lot of time examining the contents of our toolbox in detail! The entire set of tools and toolbelt are completely edible.

The cake itself was a 9-inch chocolate biscuit cake, covered in chocolate ganache and sugarpaste.
