Joanna ordered a birthday cake and cupcakes for her baby girl Ruby’s first birthday.  She was having quite a big party for her, so she actually got 36 mini cupcakes, 12 regular cupcakes and an actual birthday cake.  The birthday cake featured little handmade figurines of Minnie Mouse, Special Agent Oso, and Rubee the bee.  I loved making the little characters, they were so cute… especially Rubee the bee’s eyelashes   The cake was covered in pink sugarpaste with white polka dots, to match Minnie Mouse’s dress.  I then put a circle of white sugarpaste on top, so that the little figurines would stand out more.  I also put a large pink “1″ on top, and Ruby’s name on the side of the cake.  The figurines are completely edible, but there are pieces of uncooked spaghetti helping Rubee’s antennae to stay upright!

The birthday cake is an extra-deep 10-inch vanilla sponge, filled with white chocolate ganache, and covered with white chocolate ganache and sugarpaste.  The dozen regular cupcakes are red velvet, topped with white chocolate ganache buttercream.  The 36 mini cupcakes are a mixture of vanilla topped with pink vanilla buttercream, red velvet topped with white chocolate ganache buttercream and chocolate mini cupcakes topped with chocolate buttercream.

The cake and cupcakes went down a storm at the birthday party.  I got a lovely text from Joanna afterwards – “Just wanted to say thanks again for the cake for Ruby… it was gorgeous and everyone thought it looked fab and tasted even better!  The cupcakes went down a treat too… after it all I’m on a strict diet!  Will be in touch about next cake soon.”  Just what I love – happy customers
