Ciarán from Castleknock ordered this cake for his daughter Sarah’s Christening.  I handmade the whole family from modelling paste, so they are all edible – including the little west highland terrier!  Mum is sitting on top of the cake, looking into the baby basket.  Dad is sitting on the next tier down, shushing the dog to stop him from barking… and there are some little pawprints on there too!  Sarah’s name is spelled out with soothers (or dummies, pacifiers, whatever you call them yourself!) made from modelling paste also.  I finished it off with some pretty pink and white flowers around the tiers.

The top tier is a 6-inch chocolate sponge, filled with chocolate buttercream and covered in chocolate buttercream and white sugarpaste.  The bottom tier is a 9-inch vanilla sponge, filled with vanilla buttercream and strawberry jam, and covered with vanilla buttercream and pink sugarpaste.
