Leonidas chocolate box cake
Amanda from Newbridge ordered this cake for her husband’s 40th birthday. She wanted a cake that looked like a gold box of Leonidas Belgian chocolates, with some real chocolates around it. I baked the cake in a loaf tin, because handily enough, that’s almost exactly the shape of the chocolate box! I covered the cake with yellow sugarpaste, and carved out the letters by hand and then sprayed all of it gold with edible lustre spray. I drew the logo into the top of the cake by hand, and made a modelling chocolate bow to go on top. And I just might have bought a few too many chocolates and sampled a couple!!
The cake itself was a chocolate sponge, filled with chocolate buttercream and covered with sugarpaste. It was surrounded by real Leonidas chocolates. Below is a closeup of the logo, done completely by hand.
I got a lovely text from Amanda afterwards – “just a quick text to say thanks again for making a wonderful cake for me, everyone loved it and enjoyed it”.
