Séadh’s Christening cake with Converse booties
Aisling from Celbridge ordered this cake for her baby Séadh’s Christening. I handmade the little Converse booties from modelling paste, so they are completely edible. I also made the building blocks spelling out “Séadh Michael”. There are little stars winding their way around the cake, and “Céad míle fáilte” (a hundred thousand welcomes in Irish) is written on the board around the cake.
The bottom tier of the cake is an 8-inch chocolate biscuit cake, covered in sugarpaste. It is topped with a 6-inch lemon sponge, filled with lemon buttercream, and covered with lemon buttercream and sugarpaste.
