This cake was great fun to make… and for another repeat customer!   Tara ordered a Christening cake from me before, but this one was a 70th birthday cake for her mum in Newbridge.  Her mother has loads of diverse interests, so it was fun incorporating them onto a cake.  She is sports-mad, loves playing Bridge, loves painting and is from Galway.  I made flowers for around the cake in the Galway GAA colours of maroon and white.  I handmade a little hurley and sliothar, Bridge playing cards and a tiny artist’s palette from modelling paste.

The cake itself was a cake of two halves!  The front half was chocolate biscuit cake, and the back half was fruit cake.
